Differential use of trophic resources between an exotic and a coexisting native snail

Knowing the interactions between exotic and native species is essential to establish possible threats local fauna. In this study, we assessed use of food resources diet overlap a recently introduced snail, Sinotaia quadrata, species, Pomacea canaliculata. We analyzed gut content stable isotope snails in lowland stream where both coexist. Both Schoener’s dietary indexes supported overlap. Conversely, analysis showed differences consumption: S. quadrata consumed more detritus diatoms than P. canaliculata, whose was characterized by macrophyte remains. Macrophytes were resource that most contributed as shown mixing models. The combination techniques, analysis, indicated while canaliculata ate fresh macrophytes. This difference indicates differential studied coexisting stream. Although no negative trophic interaction found, highlight importance continuing monitor for other studying risks
